In a new statement released today, President Buhari has thanked Nigerians sending good wishes and praying for his health and well-being in mosques and churches. "The President is immensely grateful for the prayers, show of love and concern. President Buhari wishes to reassure Nigerians that there is no cause for worry. During his normal annual checkup, tests showed he needed a longer period of rest, necessitating the President staying longer than originally planned."

The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC, has confirmed that three people died as a result of electrocution in Port Harcourt. PHEDS says it has also commenced investigations into reports of multiple electrocutions around Rumuomoi and Rumuorosi communities in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. This was made known by the spokesman for the PHED, John Onyi who confirmed that only three people died from electrocution in the area, contrary to earlier reports about five casualties. Onyi , who spoke in an interview with DAILY POST said the PHED was already discussing with the families of the victims. He said, ” It was quite an unfortunate incident. We were shocked when the information reached our office. Four members of a family who allegedly poured hot water on a tenant have been arraigned in court. The culprits, Adwoa Kumaniwaa 60, Gifty Mensah 35, Hagar Mensah 31, Irene Appiah 16 recently appeared at the Kade District Magistrate Court for pouring hot water on a tenant, Elizabeth Gyamfuaa after assaulting her at Akyem Wenchi in the Eastern Region. The victim has since been discharged from the Akyem Wenchi Salvation Army Health Centre. Narrating the sad incident to the Mirror, a police source said that Gyamfuaa rented a room belonging to Kumaniwaa at Sanaahene, a suburb of Akyem Wenchi. The Funeral service of former Rivers state Commissioner of Police, CP. Francis Mobolaji Odesanya, held at the St. Dominic Catholic Church, Yaba, Lagos this morning. In attendance were the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, former Rivers state governorship candidate Dakuku Peterside and others. A school allegedly belonging to Unoma Akpabio, the wife of the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has been seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. It was learnt that the seizure was part of investigations into the former governor who has been accused of alleged N108bn fraud during his tenure from 2007 to 2015. One of our correspondents who visited the school, St. John Paul II School, in Shelter Afrique, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, observed that the school had been marked “under investigation by EFCC.” It was learnt that the EFCC resorted to marking the school instead of shutting it so that innocent parents and students who had paid school fees would not be adversely affected. A female police officer who was brutally raped by five of his colleagues might get justice after police interfered in the matter. According to reports, the five police officers are being investigated over the alleged gang rape following the emergence of the harrowing footage. Sun UK reports that the accused officers have been suspended after a graphic video of the alleged attack was released to local media in Villahermosa, in the Mexican state of Tabasco. The shocking incident allegedly took place at the Police Academy in the city in 2015, but footage of the assault has only surfaced, according to local media. THE National Association of Seadogs, NAS, otherwise known as Pyrates Confraternity has told the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to stop granting amnesty to the Niger Delta militants, saying that the amnesty was encouraging criminality in the region.
