Telecommunications giant, Globacom says its subscribers nationwide can start to enjoy 3GB of data for just N500 during weekends. This is coming as the firm unveils a new data tariff called TGIF. According to a statement released from its headquarters in Lagos and made available to the media, “This unbeatable offer will be available to Glo customers from 12:01 am every Saturday morning to Sunday evening at 11:59pm. The company explained that subscribers should select ‘Buy Data’ on the menu and then pick ‘Night and Weekend Plan’ which is number 7 on the next menu page. Globacom stated that when the menu opens to the ‘Night and Weekend plans’, subscribers should pick option 2 on the last menu which reads “N500 = 3GB for Sat and Sun. “This is simply designed to meet the expectations of subscribers who download and upload a lot of content during weekends. After four years, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, Nigerian entertainer better known as Iyanya, has severed ties with his record label, Made Men Music Group (MMMG). The 29-year-old singer, who is a co-owner of MMMG, has signed a new deal with Temple Management Company, which will be representing him, moving forward. Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has advised youths of the church against marrying girls who are weak in prayers. Fondly referred to as ‘Daddy GO’, Adeboye told young people in the church that a girl must be able to pray non-stop for at least an hour before being considered for marriage. Former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is to lead the African Union Elections Observation Mission, AUEOM, to the Zambian general elections scheduled take place on October 11, 2016. A statement posted on AU’s website yesterday stated that Jonathan would be leading members of the short term mission to join the continental body’s deployment of long term election experts who are already on ground in Zambia, adding that the chairperson of African Union Commission, AUC, approved it. The statement read, “The Chairperson of the AUC has approved the deployment of African Union Elections Observation Mission, AUEOM, to the General Elections scheduled to place in the Republic of Zambia on October 11, 2016. “The deployment of the AUEOM will take place in two phases. In a determined bid to break the record set by Jesus Christ of Nazareth, a 44-year-old popular South African pastor, Alfred Ndlovu, has died of malnutrition following a dry fasting that lasted for 30 days. According to Buzz South Africa, the cleric left home on June 17 for a nearby bush to have prayers just like Jesus did in an attempt to equal or break Jesus Christ’s record of fasting for 40 days, but died just a month despite having no history of illness. 2 Private Hospital Doctors Arrested For Forgetting Towel In Patient After Surgery

Two doctors working with a private hospital in Lagos have been arrested by the police for allegedly forgetting a towel inside a patient after surgical operation. The duo, Dr Taiwo Shogunle, 53 and Dr. Adeleke Olusegun, 43 of St. Raphael Divine Mercy Specialist Hospital at Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos State have been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrates’ Court for allegedly causing the death of their patient, Omojola Bamgboye during surgical operation. The doctors were arrested by operatives of the Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos. After investigation by Inspector Monday Omoigui and his team, the doctors were arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on a one count charge of felony, to wit, murder. Police prosecutor, Supol Eshiet Eshiet told the court in charge No L/28/2016 that the accused persons committed the offence between 18 and 19 December, 2015 at St. Raphael Divine Mercy Specialist Hospital, Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos. Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, has alleged that Nigeria went into recession under former President Goodluck Jonathan but that the government only covered it up by saying it was cash-strapped. The minister, who spoke on The Osasu Show, said Okonjo-Iweala begged him to stop saying Nigeria was broke at the time. Amaechi, who was then the chairman of Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), said the economy went into a recession due to excessive borrowing. When asked about the recession of the Nigerian economy, Amaechi said: “People just pick up words without knowing what words mean. CBN Tells Banks To Accept Cheques For Savings Accounts

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday directed banks and other financial institution to allow customers operating savings accounts to lodge in cheques. CBN Director, Banking and Payment System Department, ‘Dipo Fatokun, who disclosed this in a circular, said savings account customers with Bank Verification Number (BVN) should be allowed to deposit cheques not more than N2 million in value into their accounts, per customer per day. The CBN said the decision to allow cheques in savings accounts is in furtherance of its efforts at strengthening the Nigerian payments system.
